Sindh Orders Private Schools to Refund Matric Student Fees

Sindh fee refund orders have been issued for private schools across the province, including Karachi. The Sindh School Education Department directed schools to immediately return fees collected from matric students for April to July 2026. Officials said many parents had submitted complaints against private schools over unlawful fee collection. Therefore, authorities decided to take strict action to protect students and families from unfair charges. The order applies to all registered private institutions operating in Sindh.

Authorities Declare Fee Collection Illegal

The Directorate of Inspection and Registration of Private Institutions Sindh stated that several schools charged Class 10 students fees during examination months. According to officials, some schools claimed they collected extra money because of practical examinations. However, the directorate rejected this explanation and called the practice illegal.
Authorities clarified that practical examination charges already exist within monthly tuition fees. Therefore, schools cannot demand additional payments from students or parents. Officials also dismissed claims from some institutions that they could collect fees until July 2026 because the academic session started in August 2025.
The department said this practice directly violates decisions made by the steering committee. In addition, officials stressed that schools must follow approved education policies without imposing extra financial burdens on families.

Schools Face Strict Legal Action

The directorate warned schools to refund the collected amount immediately or face serious consequences. Authorities said they may impose fines, suspend registrations, or even cancel licenses of institutions that fail to comply. Furthermore, officials may refer cases to education boards for additional disciplinary action.
Inspection committees will also visit schools across Sindh to monitor compliance with the order. As a result, authorities plan to submit reports against institutions found violating the instructions. Officials said the government remains committed to ensuring transparency and fairness in the private education sector.
