Telenor Ufone Merger Jobs May Affect Hundreds of PTML Employees
The Telenor Ufone merger jobs restructuring may lead to major workforce changes at Pak Telecom Mobile Limited (PTML). Reports suggest that around 300 to 500 employees could lose their positions during the integration process. The restructuring will affect several departments. These include sales, marketing, finance, human resources, technology, customer service, and administration. Company sources say the process could finish within the next few weeks after the merger becomes legally complete.
Assessment Process and Separation Plan
Employees who want to remain at PTML must complete aptitude tests, functional assessments, and interviews. The company will use these results to fill roles in the newly merged organization. Successful employees will receive positions based on availability and performance. Others may qualify for alternative roles if they meet the required standards. However, employees who cannot secure a suitable position may leave the company through a Voluntary Separation Scheme (VSS), commonly called a golden handshake.
PTML’s Director Corporate Communications, Saad Mustafa Waraich, said the company is currently focused on integration, governance, and operating structures. Therefore, he declined to comment on reports about internal restructuring plans. Before the merger, Telenor Pakistan employed around 800 workers. Meanwhile, nearly 300 Ufone employees had already moved to PTML headquarters. Reports also indicate that one senior sales executive recently resigned after failing to secure a role in the merged company.
The ongoing assessment process has created uncertainty among employees. Many now await the final outcome as PTML completes its restructuring and workforce integration.
