The Strongest Weapon Against Terrorism, Says SAU Vice Chancellor
Education is the most powerful weapon to fight terrorism. Sindh Agriculture University (SAU) Vice Chancellor Dr. Altaf Ali Siyal shared this message at a seminar titled “Elimination of Extremism and Terrorism” held at Dr. A.M. Shaikh Auditorium, Tandojam.
Dr. Siyal said education leads to peace and sustainable development. He stressed that guiding youth toward responsible technology use is essential in today’s world.
Education for Peace and Progress
According to the SAU spokesperson, Dr. Siyal explained that terrorism can only be defeated through knowledge and awareness. He added that tolerance among youth is declining. Therefore, the university is introducing more co-curricular and healthy activities to promote patience, resilience, and positive engagement.
He highlighted that education protects societies from extremism and negative ideologies. SAU, he said, is not just an academic institution but also a hub of social awareness and ethical learning. Through its “Students–Teachers Engagement Program,” the university encourages teamwork, respect, and community service.
Youth and Responsible Technology Use
Dr. Siyal emphasized that in times of climate change and global challenges, young people must adopt modern technologies wisely. Irresponsible use, he warned, could benefit harmful forces. He urged students to report any suspicious activities to ensure safety and national security.
Professor Dr. Muhammad Ismail Kumbhar also spoke on the occasion. He said terrorism is not only about weapons; it spreads through hatred and mistrust. Combating it, therefore, needs collective action and skill-based education.
Other speakers, including Principal Sidratul Muntaha Bhatti and Dr. Bakht Ali Noonari, stressed that youth awareness and social responsibility are vital for building a peaceful society.
The event drew a large number of students, faculty, and social leaders, showing a shared commitment to peace through education.
