A Third Night of Drone Attacks
The drone caused visible damage to the building’s façade. However, there were no casualties. This was the third night in a row that the Russian capital came under attack. The strikes happened just days before Russia’s scaled-back 9 May parade. That event marks the Soviet Union’s victory over Nazi Germany.
Damage and Debris
An unverified video on social media showed firemen inside a badly damaged flat. The apartment was covered in dust and rubble. Windows were blown out. Another video showed drone debris scattered across the street below.Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said two other drones were intercepted. Vnukovo and Domodedovo airports suspended operations overnight.
Massive Attacks Across Russia
The Russian defense ministry said 117 drones were intercepted over several regions between Sunday and Monday. Sixty of them targeted the St Petersburg region. The regional governor, Aleksandr Drodzhenko, called it a “massive” attack.
