US Backs Global Security Force for Gaza, Says Rubio
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio says several nations have shown interest in joining a Gaza security force. The plan forms a key part of President Donald Trump’s peace proposal for the region.
Rubio shared the update during his visit to Israel. He explained that discussions about the International Stabilization Force (ISF) are ongoing. “It will begin as soon as it possibly can,” he said.
Talks Continue, But Challenges Remain
According to Rubio, many governments have offered to help. However, he stressed that Israel must feel comfortable with the participating nations. “This effort can only succeed with trust,” he added.
The ISF aims to stabilize Gaza and create lasting peace in the Middle East. In addition, it would work to improve security and humanitarian conditions for civilians.
However, questions remain about the plan’s execution. For example, it is unclear how such a force could operate without coordination with Hamas, which controls Gaza. Experts warn that any plan lacking local agreement may face serious obstacles.
Despite these uncertainties, Rubio expressed optimism. He said that ongoing diplomacy and global interest are positive signs. “We’re encouraged by the willingness of so many countries,” he noted.
Therefore, while challenges lie ahead, the growing support for a Gaza security force marks an important step toward regional stability. Many observers see this as a potential turning point in Middle East peace efforts.
