WhatsApp Message Animations Roll Out on Android Beta

WhatsApp Message Animations are now arriving on Android, giving chats a smoother and more modern feel. The new feature adds a subtle animation whenever users send or receive messages. The update is currently available to some users running WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.26.23.11. According to WABetaInfo, more beta testers will gain access over the coming weeks.

WhatsApp Brings a Smoother Messaging Experience

The new animation changes how messages appear in conversations. Instead of instantly showing up in the chat, the message bubble smoothly slides into place. As a result, conversations feel more natural and visually polished. The animation is quick and subtle, so it does not interrupt the messaging experience.
WhatsApp first introduced this feature on iOS. Now, the company is bringing the same experience to Android users. Therefore, the interface will feel more consistent across both platforms. The animation activates when the latest message is positioned near the chat bar. At that point, the bubble appears to emerge naturally into the conversation. In addition, incoming messages can also display the same visual effect.

Users Can Enable or Disable the Feature

WhatsApp allows users to manage the feature through Accessibility settings. Those who prefer fewer animations can easily turn it off. To check availability, users can open WhatsApp Settings > Accessibility. If a Messages toggle appears, the feature has been enabled for that account.
This update follows several other animation improvements introduced by WhatsApp. For example, photo-sharing animations and sticker transitions already add movement to chats. The latest addition continues that trend.
Although the change may seem minor, it improves the overall user experience. Small visual enhancements often make apps feel faster and more responsive. For now, WhatsApp Message Animations remain limited to select Android beta testers. However, the company is expected to expand access gradually before a wider release.
