Yope Private Social Network Secures $12.3M to Redefine Social Media
The Yope Private Social Network has raised $12.3 million in fresh funding. The startup wants to offer a different social experience without algorithms, ads, or public content. Instead, Yope focuses on private groups where friends and family share photos, videos, and messages. As a result, users enjoy a more personal online space.
A Social Platform Built Around Real Connections
Yope keeps every account private by default. Users interact through small communities instead of public feeds designed for viral content. The company believes many young people want to share personal moments without becoming influencers. Therefore, it created a platform that encourages authentic communication with close friends. Yope also uses artificial intelligence differently. Rather than generating content, AI helps strengthen real-life connections. Upcoming features include AI-powered mini-games, event planning, and local activity suggestions. Users can personalize their profiles with photos, stickers, wallpapers, favorite music, and interests. The customizable design brings back the creative freedom once popular on early social networking platforms.
Strong Growth Attracts Major Investors
The startup reports nearly 15 million registered users worldwide. Every week, users exchange between 10 and 20 million photos, videos, and stickers through the platform.
More than half of active users open the app at least five days each week. Additionally, many younger users invite parents and relatives to join their private groups. Northzone led the funding round, with support from Inovo, Redseed, and Geek Ventures. The investment increases Yope’s total funding to $20 million. The company plans to expand its team, open a United States office, and continue improving the platform. By focusing on privacy, meaningful relationships, and user control, Yope hopes to become a fresh alternative to today’s entertainment-driven social networks.
