Anti-Vaping Campaign Launched in Universities to Protect Students

An anti vaping campaign has started in educational institutions to raise awareness about the dangers of vaping and other nicotine products. The initiative aims to help students understand the health risks linked to nicotine addiction. Organizers also encouraged young people to make informed and healthier lifestyle choices.

Experts Warn About Rising Vaping Trend

The Drug Advisory Training Hub organized a one-day awareness session for students from several universities. The programme focused on the harmful effects of vaping, nicotine pouches, cigarettes and other nicotine-based products.
Speaking at the event, anti-drug campaign consultant Syed Zulfiqar Hussain said vaping among young people has increased by nearly 20 percent. He explained that the global market for vapes, cigarettes and nicotine pouches continues to grow rapidly. As a result, more young people face the risk of developing nicotine addiction.
Hussain said many students begin using these products while coping with academic pressure and examination stress. What starts as occasional use can gradually become a regular habit. Therefore, he urged students to seek healthier ways to manage stress before nicotine dependence develops.

Universities Urged to Support Students

Hussain called on universities to establish dedicated counselling centers for students. He said these centres could provide mental health support and professional guidance. In addition, counsellors could help students manage anxiety, reduce stress and avoid addictive behaviors.
During the session, experts explained the harmful effects of vaping on physical and mental health. They also discussed the risks linked to nicotine pouches, cigarettes and other tobacco products. Furthermore, students learned practical strategies to resist peer pressure and stay away from nicotine use.
Organizers encouraged participants to adopt healthy habits, including regular exercise, balanced nutrition and positive stress management techniques. They said awareness and early intervention can play an important role in preventing nicotine addiction among young people. Consequently, the campaign aims to create healthier campuses and promote informed decisions that protect students’ long-term well-being.
