Nuclear Science Olympiad: Pakistan Wins 3 Medals
A Pakistani team won three medals at the Nuclear Science Olympiad in Jeddah. The event ran from August 2 to 8. Pakistan earned one gold and two silver medals. The achievement highlights the country’s growing focus on young scientific talent.
Pakistani Students Shine in Jeddah
Muhammad Ali represented Government College University Lahore. He won the gold medal for Pakistan. His strong performance helped the team achieve a notable result.
Muhammad Usman from F.G. Sir Syed College, Rawalpindi, also impressed judges. He secured a silver medal at the international event. Seerat Fatima Bhatti from Nixor College, Karachi, won another silver medal.
Syed Shuja Haider from Sundar STEM School, Lahore, also represented Pakistan. Together, the students competed against talented participants from around the world.
The competition brought together 120 secondary-school students and experts. Participants came from 19 countries. The event promoted excellence, learning and international cooperation in nuclear science.
Training Helped Pakistan’s Team Succeed
The Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences selected and trained the team. The Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission supported the preparation process.
The students first earned selection through the Pakistan Nuclear Science Olympiad. PAEC launched the programme to identify and develop promising young scientific talent.
After selection, PIEAS faculty members provided specialised training. Experts also helped students prepare for the competition’s academic challenges. Therefore, the team entered the event with strong technical preparation.
PAEC said the results reflect Pakistan’s continued efforts to develop young scientists. In addition, the achievement may encourage more students to explore nuclear science and technology.
Pakistan also received another major opportunity during the event. The country will host the fourth International Nuclear Science Olympiad in 2027.
As a result, Pakistan will gain a chance to showcase its scientific talent again. The upcoming event could also strengthen international cooperation and inspire more young learners.
