Section 302 Charge Added in Mir Raza Case After Re-Postmortem
Police have added a Section 302 charge to the Mir Raza case after a re-postmortem. The 25-year-old trader was allegedly kidnapped from PECHS. Authorities later found his body near a wedding hall in Gulistan-e-Jauhar.
Re-Postmortem Finds Gunshot Injury
Police added the murder provision to the FIR on Sunday. Investigators received preliminary findings from the re-postmortem before updating the case.
The examination followed the exhumation of Raza’s body. It found a firearm entry wound on his upper right back. The bullet exited through the left side of his chest.
The injury fractured his sixth rib and caused internal bleeding. Doctors also found several injuries on his head, face, neck and chest.
The medical board said the injuries occurred before death. Investigators also collected 17 samples for forensic analysis. These included blood, tissue, skin, hair and teeth.
Authorities will examine the samples further. Therefore, the final medical findings may provide more evidence about the death.
Police also suspect that someone tortured Raza before shooting him. The initial kidnapping FIR carried Section 365 of the Pakistan Penal Code. Investigators have now added Section 302.
Family Demands Fresh Investigation
A new team will investigate the death. Officers will revisit the crime scene and question family members again. They will also review available evidence and other relevant material.
Family lawyer Jibran Nasir welcomed the medical findings. He said the examination revealed important evidence. However, he also accused police of pressuring the family.
Nasir claimed officers pushed relatives to accept a suicide theory. He demanded an impartial investigation by officers with a good reputation.
Raza’s father, Mir Hassan, also rejected the suicide explanation. He said the family had raised murder concerns from the beginning.
Meanwhile, investigators are examining an audio message allegedly sent before Raza’s death. The recording reportedly discusses financial matters and proposed cheque payments.
The authorities have yet to announce final conclusions. Forensic results and the renewed investigation will help determine what happened.
The family has called for transparency throughout the process. It also wants investigators to identify anyone responsible for the trader’s death.
