Punjab Child Protection Bureau, Kinnaird College Sign Child Welfare MoU
The Child welfare MoU between the Child Protection and Welfare Bureau Punjab and Kinnaird College for Women aims to strengthen child protection, education and rehabilitation. Officials signed the agreement during a ceremony attended by representatives of both institutions. The partnership will also promote skills development, research and awareness programmes. Moreover, it reflects a shared commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable children across Punjab.
Partnership to Support Child Protection
Child Protection and Welfare Bureau Chairperson and MPA Sarah Ahmed signed the agreement with Kinnaird College Principal Prof. Dr Iram Anjum. Ahmed said the Punjab government, under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s vision, remains committed to providing children with safe environments, quality education and equal opportunities.
She added that the bureau continues working with educational institutions to improve rehabilitation, learning and personality development for children in its care. In addition, the partnership will allow Kinnaird College students to complete internships, practical training and volunteer work at bureau-operated centres. As a result, students will gain hands-on experience while supporting programmes designed for vulnerable children. Ahmed said the initiative will also help build a stronger understanding of child protection among future professionals.
Education, Research and Skills Development
The two institutions will organise educational, psychological and technical training programmes for children under the bureau’s care. Furthermore, they will work together on research projects, awareness campaigns, knowledge sharing and initiatives that improve child protection services. Ahmed stressed that officials will protect the confidentiality of children’s personal information and case records throughout the partnership. She added that the safety, dignity and best interests of every child will remain the highest priority.
Meanwhile, Prof. Dr Iram Anjum assured the bureau of Kinnaird College’s full cooperation in promoting child welfare and social responsibility. She said the collaboration will prepare students to make meaningful contributions to child protection initiatives. The agreement will remain valid for three years and may be extended with mutual consent. Officials believe the partnership will create better educational opportunities and strengthen rehabilitation efforts for children across Punjab.
