QAU Bans Gifts and Hospitality for Staff During Student Services
Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU) has introduced a QAU gift ban to stop officers and employees from accepting sweets, gifts, meals or any other form of hospitality from students.
The university announced the policy through an official notification issued by the Registrar’s Office on Monday. Officials said the decision will strengthen transparency, fairness and accountability in administrative matters. Moreover, the policy aims to protect students from unnecessary financial and social pressure.
New Rules Promote Transparency
The university directed all officers and employees not to request or accept gifts while processing degrees, certificates, clearance documents or other official matters. It also prohibited staff from putting any pressure on students during administrative procedures. Instead, officials must process every case strictly on merit. As a result, students will receive equal treatment regardless of their background or personal connections.
The administration said asking for sweets, meals or gifts creates an unfair burden on students. Furthermore, such practices conflict with the university’s commitment to professionalism, integrity and good governance. Therefore, the institution has decided to enforce the policy across all departments without exception.
Complaint System and Strict Action
QAU warned that any officer or employee who violates the new policy will face strict disciplinary and departmental action. In addition, the university directed heads of academic departments and administrative offices to ensure full compliance with the instructions. Officials said every department must monitor its staff and maintain high ethical standards. Meanwhile, the university has introduced a complaint mechanism to encourage accountability.
Students and employees can report any violation directly to the Registrar’s Office for appropriate action. The administration assured complainants that it will review every report carefully. Finally, university officials said the policy reflects QAU’s commitment to creating a transparent, student-friendly and corruption-free environment. They expressed hope that the new rules will strengthen public trust, improve administrative services and promote a culture of honesty and fairness across the university.
