Punjab Conducts Head Teacher Test for Merit-Based School Appointments

The Punjab School Education Department has launched a Head Teacher Test to ensure merit-based appointments in public schools. The department is conducting the examination today under the supervision of the Punjab Examination Commission Testing Agency (PECTA). Officials believe the initiative will improve transparency and help select qualified candidates for leadership positions.
The department has introduced several measures to ensure the smooth conduct of the examination. Authorities have instructed all districts to provide complete support and coordinate closely with PECTA throughout the process. As a result, officials expect the examination to proceed in a fair and organized manner.

Authorities Strengthen Monitoring at Examination Centers

The School Education Department has directed all examination centers to install CCTV cameras. Officials want to maintain strict monitoring and prevent any irregularities during the test. Therefore, district administrations have taken steps to ensure that surveillance systems remain fully operational.
In addition, the department has ordered authorities to ensure an uninterrupted power supply at all centers. Officials have also directed districts to provide stable internet services and make tablets available where required. These arrangements will help examination staff manage the process efficiently.
The department believes that strong monitoring mechanisms will increase public confidence in the recruitment process. Moreover, transparent testing procedures can help ensure equal opportunities for all candidates.

Merit-Based Selection Remains Top Priority

The School Education Department has emphasized that the Head Teacher Test is an important step toward improving educational leadership. Effective school leaders can strengthen academic performance, improve administration, and support better learning outcomes for students.
To facilitate coordination, the department has instructed every district to nominate focal persons. These officials will work directly with PECTA and address any operational issues that may arise during the examination.
Furthermore, the department has formally written to Chief Executive Officers (Education) across Punjab and directed them to extend full cooperation. Officials expect the initiative to strengthen accountability and professionalism in public schools.
Through the Head Teacher Test, the Punjab government aims to ensure that capable and deserving candidates lead schools. Consequently, the province hopes to improve the quality of education and strengthen school management across its public education system.
