WhatsApp Scam Alert Could Help Users Spot Fraud Messages Before They Cause Harm

WhatsApp Scam Alert Could Help Users Spot Fraud Messages Before They Cause Harm

WhatsApp is developing a new security feature called WhatsApp Scam Alert. The tool aims to help users identify suspicious messages before they become victims of online fraud. At the same time, WhatsApp plans to protect user privacy. The feature is still under development. Therefore, it is not available to beta testers yet. However, early details suggest it could become an important safety tool for millions of users.

New Security Features Focus on Privacy

WhatsApp Scam Alert will review messages from unknown contacts. If the system detects signs of fraud, it will show a warning to the user. As a result, people may find it easier to avoid scams and phishing attempts. The company says the feature will work directly on the device. This means messages will remain protected by end-to-end encryption. In addition, WhatsApp will not send private chats to external servers for analysis. The system may also create local transparency logs. These records will help users understand when the feature detects suspicious activity.
WhatsApp is also working on a view-once option for text messages. Users will be able to send texts that disappear after being opened. Furthermore, recipients may not be able to copy, forward, or capture screenshots of those messages.

More Updates Are on the Way

The platform is testing several other improvements. For example, iPhone users may soon get better chat organization tools. New filters could make it easier to find archived and locked conversations. WhatsApp is also developing a Contacts tab. This section may show which contacts are currently online. As a result, users could quickly connect with active contacts. Meanwhile, the company plans to add status caption editing. Users may receive a 15-minute window to correct mistakes after posting a status update.

Meta has also introduced an AI Business Agent for WhatsApp.

The assistant can help businesses answer customer questions outside regular working hours. Although these features are not available yet, they show WhatsApp’s continued focus on privacy, security, and user convenience. If released, WhatsApp Scam Alert could become one of the platform’s most valuable safety upgrades.
