Hamdard Psychology Degree Issue Sparks HEC Verification Concerns
Thousands of students spend four years earning a degree and invest large sums in tuition fees. They also dream of studying abroad or building successful careers. However, the Hamdard Psychology Degree issue has left many graduates worried. Students claim the degree title prevents HEC verification, which they need for higher education and international employment. As a result, many now fear their hard work may not deliver the opportunities they expected.
Students Raise Questions Over Degree Title
Students claim Hamdard University awards a Bachelor of Studies degree to graduates of its BS Psychology programme instead of Bachelor of Science. They argue this title creates confusion during HEC verification. In addition, several international universities and online admission portals do not list “Bachelor of Studies” for psychology programmes. Therefore, graduates believe the title could affect applications for postgraduate studies and overseas jobs.
Five batches have completed the BS Psychology programme so far. According to students, the first two batches stayed silent about the issue. However, the third and fourth batches formally approached the university. The administration reportedly assured them that it would investigate the matter. Despite those promises, students say they have waited nearly two years without a permanent solution.
Students Demand Immediate Resolution
Meanwhile, the fifth batch is close to graduation. Students say the university never informed them about the degree title during admissions. Instead, they discovered the issue after completing their studies. Consequently, hundreds of graduates now worry about their academic and professional futures.
Pakistan already offers limited opportunities for young graduates. Therefore, students depend on internationally recognised degrees to continue their education or secure jobs abroad. They believe universities must provide clear information and accurate academic records.
Students have urged Hamdard University to correct the degree title for all affected graduates. They have also requested the Higher Education Commission to review the matter and protect students’ interests. Furthermore, they want a transparent and permanent solution before another batch graduates.
Finally, students have appealed to the public, education experts, and policymakers to raise awareness about the issue. They hope timely action will safeguard the future of current and future graduates.
